The other day, I enjoyed Hakone in this new year's holiday with my family, and I stayed at "Hakone TENYU" just opened in April 2017 as a luxury brand of Fujita Kanko Kowakyuen so I will report it.
Entrance, mountainous landscape is good
Highly mountainous area at Hakone
As you know, Hakone is the most famous ONSEN area in Japan. Though areas which is named "Hakone" is very vast, the Hakone Tenyu stands at the highly mountainous area at Hakone. If you go there by a mountain train, the nearest station is KOWAKUDANI that is one before the terminal station GORA.
Hakone Tenyu is a typical Japanese hotel in "Kowakudani" on the elevation in Hakone, just before Gora. By the way, because Gora 's destination is even steep, the means of transportation will be a ropeway (there is a famous Owakudani on the way)

Speaking of Kowakidani, Kowaki-en Hotel which is Hakone's biggest hot spring inn is famous. It is a series of Fujita Kanko with "Yunessan" of the popular leisure facility adjacent. (By the way, Kowaki-en was closed as of January 10, 2018.)
And Hakone Tenyu opened in April 2017 as a new inn of Kowaki-en series, a high-class line. As the accommodation fee will be around 30,000 yen in the off season, it will be higher price setting than general hot spring inns in Hakone.
A valuable newly built inn in Hakone
Recent trends in the inn's industry are acquiring old hotels and refurbish. There are resort groups that are expanding their business in this way, such as Hoshino Resort and Kyoritsu Maintenance.
However, even if the interior can be remodeled, you can not hide the aging of the building's exterior and sharing areas (large public baths, stairs, corridors). We stayed many times at a resort-style hotel around 30,000 yen per night, but if the appearance is aging, the tension drops.

On the other hand, Hakone Tenyu is a 100% new construction opened in April 2017, so it has a brand new look, as well as a sense of cleanliness and good sense.
The newly built ryokan is very valuable in Hakone area where the land is limited.
The meal for children is also gorgeous
Because it is a luxury inn, you can eat plenty of delicious meals. Regarding meals, since all the inns work hard, the differences are slight, but I think they are above the Kyoritsu Maintenance group.
dinner. the dish on the front is a wild boar meat ham
What surprised me about the meal is a child menu. The bottom picture is boiled luxury fish, deep-fried chicken. Deep-fried chicken was super juicy and taste at the specialty restaurant level.

As for the child menu, I think that the hotel will consider if you consult beforehand at the time of reservation. I asked, "I do not mind an additional fee so I'd like sushi to be added to the menu for the kids", but at the time of checkout no additional fee was charged. If it is this, it may have corresponded within the scope of the service.
Newly built large public bathroom feels good
Speaking of Hakone it is the hot spring spot in Japan, so a large public bath is also an important point.
It is a big appeal to be new. The bathroom is luxuriously decorated with woodgrained tiles all over. Of course there is no problem with the cleanliness.
And in the outdoor bath the natural waterfall falls, forgetting the time and spilling in hot water. Because of the midwinter, the splash of the waterfalls hangs around the rocky places and trees, which is frozen like ice crystals and icicles, which is a fantastic atmosphere. Winter is good again in Hakone.
There is also a shower room in the room
Also, as a consideration for foreign tourists, all rooms are equipped with outdoor bath and shower room. The hotel staff was able to speak Japanese, English and Chinese, and I felt it was a hotel very conscious of foreigners.
